In March, the book of Teri Szűcs, Memory has returned to me. Dementia and Operencia, a book about the everyday life of home care, forgetting and remembering, was published by Magvető.
Teri started writing her notes when her mother was diagnosed with dementia. But her diary entries and essays are never just private confessions, but also attempts to create a shared memory. The book is a sensitive insight into the current difficulties and possibilities of home care, its challenging and uplifting days, its fragile balance.

This evening, as part of the April Labrisz Evening, we will pay special attention to the sections of the book dealing with lesbian experiences. What is it like to do the invisible work of caring as a queer woman? How does a middle-aged queer caregiver experience her own aging and think ahead to the future? What are our feelings about our own childlessness in this context? How do we feel about our own parents?

Anna Borgos and Dóri Rédai will be in conversation with Teri and all those who come. The author and Anna Borgos will read from the book.
